During Polyphenols 2014 World Congress in Lisbon next June 2014, Pr. João Laranjinha from University of Coimbra, Portugal will discuss about "A short-cut to comprehensive health benefits of dietary polyphenols: the nitrate-nitrite-nitric oxide pathway"
Polyphenols and nitrate co-localize in many components of the diet. Polyphenols are endowed with physicochemical properties that support the univalent reduction of nitrite to nitric oxide. We will propose that the redox interaction of polyphenols with the nitrate:nitrite:nitric oxide pathway in the gut encompass a new pathway for inclusive biological effects of dietary polyphenols in connection with nitric oxide biology.
