About Valencia
Valencia, on the east coast of Spain, is the capital of the autonomous community of Valencia and the third-largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona, with around 800.000 inhabitants within the city limits. Valencia stands on the banks of the River Turia and is located on the east coast of the Iberian Peninsula, at the western end of the Mediterranean, facing the Gulf of Valencia. When it was founded by the Romans, it stood on a river island in the Turia, 6.4 kilometres (4 miles) from the sea. The Albufera, a freshwater lagoon and estuary about 11 km (7 ) south of the city, is one of the largest lakes in Spain.

- Electricity supply. Electricity is supplied at 220V - 50 Hz AC.
- Climate. Valencia has a subtropical Mediterranean climate with short, very mild winters and long, hot, summers. In the warmest month – August, the maximum temperature during the day typically ranges from 28 to 34 °C (82-93 °F), about 22-23 °C (72 to 73 °F) at night.

- Language. There are two official languages in Valencia: Valencian and Spanish. You will find that most people are not fluent in English, except hotel staff, but they will do their best to communicate with you.
How to Reach the City
- Road. There are two freeways leading to Valencia, one from Madrid (A-3) and the other from Barcelona and France (AP-7).
- Rail. There are comfortable trains from Madrid and Barcelona. The high-speed AVE train from Madrid to Valencia in 1 hour 35 minutes. The train station is located in the city center.
For information on timetable and fares visit Renfe website - Air. Valencia airport is about 12 km (7.5 miles) from the conference venue. There are direct flights from many European countries. Although some of them are non-daily, there are connecting flights from Madrid, Barcelona, or Mallorca airports with a flight time of just under an hour.
How To Reach City Center From the Airport
- Taxi. A taxi takes about 20 minutes to the city center and costs about €20-25.
- Cabify. The Cabify service is available in Valencia. It can be used VIA the web page or the Cabify App. There is no Uber service.
- Bus. A round trip bus service (route 150) from the airport to the city center, near the Central Market (Barón de Cárcer 26), is available from 5.25 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 5.25 a.m. to 10.10 p.m. on Saturdays. There is no service on Sundays. The journey time is about 35 minutes and the one-way fare is €1.45. See bus route 150 timetable

Transport in the City
There is an extensive, low cost public transport network covering the city including bus, metro (subway), streetcar (it is part of the subway) and taxi. There are various tickets and fares available.
- Bus: a single ticket (bought on the bus) costs €1.50. Also available: Bonobus (10 trips, bought at newsstands or tobacco shops for €8.50, plus €2.00 for the rechargeable card). Further information
- Metro (Subway): single fare from €1.50 to €3.90, depending on the route. Also available at metro stations is the Bonometro (10 trips, ranging from €7.20 to €20.00). Combined 1–3 day bus-subway tickets are also available at newsstands, tobacco shops, or metro stations. Further information
- Taxi: taxis are not expensive (though there is a minimum daytime fare of €4.90 and €6.00 after 10:00 p.m.; prices may vary during the summer period). You can pick them up at taxi ranks or through PideTaxi App, stop them in the street, or ask the reception desk to call one for you.
- Cabify. The Cabify service is available in Valencia. It can be used via the web page or the Cabify App. There is no Uber service.
- Bike: València is a bike-friendly city with over 120 kilometers of cycle paths.
